OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Merchandise Purchasing Manager with strong expertise in halal product sourcing, handling, and storage requirements, as well as awareness of religious and cultural occasions that influence purchasing and promotional strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Tasks

·    Coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing halal-certified materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies

·       Plan and control budget and expenditures for halal product procurement and merchandising operations

·       Plan and organize daily operations in compliance with halal certification standards and merchandising protocols

·       Review purchase order claims and contracts to determine compliance with company policy and halal handling, storage, and transportation requirements

·       Hire, train, direct, and motivate staff across grocery, dairy, frozen, produce, and butchery departments

·       Plan, develop, and implement purchasing policies and procedures that reflect halal integrity and merchandising standards

·       Oversee the evaluation of the cost, quality, and halal certification status of goods or services

·       Authorize the development of specifications for halal products and merchandising displays

·       Manage contracts, ensuring halal compliance in sourcing and delivery

·       Review and process claims against suppliers, including halal certification disputes

·       Oversee the analysis of purchasing data, merchandising performance, and halal consumer demand

·       Oversee the preparation of reports related to procurement, merchandising, and halal compliance

·       Organize and maintain inventory with strict adherence to halal storage protocols (e.g., segregation from non-halal items, prevention of cross-contamination)

·       Arrange products according to planogram, including:

·       Setting up planograms for the store

·       Implementing merchandising and product display standards

·       Adjusting planograms for promotions and festive seasons (e.g., Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha)

·       Guiding and training the team on merchandising standards

 

Supervision

More than 20 people (40-50 staff)

Staff in various areas of responsibility, including grocery, dairy, frozen, produce and butchery departments
