Gracie Barra Richmond is the premier academy to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and other martial arts in Richmond, BC. Our vision is “Jiu-Jitsu for everyone.” We focus on character growth and the empowerment of our community and families through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, and Boxing instruction. Our classes are aligned with the Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program structure developed by Master Carlos Gracie Jr., while also offering complementary martial arts training to meet the diverse learning needs of people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels.

Job Description

As a Lead Martial Arts Instructor specializing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Gracie Barra Richmond, you will:

  • Lead structured training sessions focused on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques, drills, and sparring.

  • Prepare and maintain all necessary equipment for classes.

  • Clearly demonstrate and teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques to students and instructors of various skill levels.

  • Provide personalized coaching and feedback to help students progress.

  • Lead group classes in a supportive, motivating environment.

  • Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning styles and abilities.

  • Promote health, fitness, and self-defense awareness during training.

  • Ensure a safe training environment by monitoring activities and enforcing safety protocols.

  • Assist with organizing special events such as seminars, workshops, and belt promotions.

  • Maintain records of attendance and student progress.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor.

  • Brown Belt required; Black Belt preferred.

  • Experience or familiarity with teaching other martial arts such as kickboxing or boxing is an asset.

  • Proven ability to teach and demonstrate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques effectively.

  • Commitment to the values of discipline, respect, and self-improvement.

  • CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).

  • Completion of Gracie Barra Instructor Certification Program (if available).

  • Criminal Record Check required.
